What are Electronic Cigarettes?

The Electronic Cigarette, also known by the name e-cigarette, e-cig or electric cigarette, is an alternative smoking device. This electric adaptation of a cigarette allows you to inhale a small amount of nicotine, just like the real deal, only you do not have to deal with the carcinogenic components and other toxins that tobacco products contain. Besides being a cleaner alternative, this electronic version can be enjoyed anywhere, even in public places that ban tobacco smoking.

An overview of Electronic Cigarettes

The Electronic Cigarette is operated by microelectronic technology, mostly powered by a small rechargeable battery, although disposable batteries may be used in some versions. There is a disposable cartridge that contains a mixture of water, glycol, propylene and nicotine which provides the characteristic taste and smell of a regular cigarette. Special flavours can be incorporated in these cartridges to provide a different taste sensation.

Smoking these e-cigs provides you with an experience much like a traditional one, in that you satisfy the nicotine craving and the tactile sensations that go along with it. During the inhalation process, a vaporisation process is triggered which replicates the smoke, only the misty vapour dissipates quickly and you don't have to worry about second-hand smoke.

How an Electronic Cigarette Works

When air goes through the electronic cigarette, the microprocessor inside detects this and activates the cartridge with the nicotine mixture. Small droplets of the mixture are instilled in the air which is then inhaled by the smoker. The propylene glycol portion of the mixture is what reproduces the smoke-like qualities of the e-cig. The LED inserted into the end is also activated by the microprocessor to glow so that the tip resembles an actual lit cigarette.

The moment you inhale with the electronic cigarette, the tip lights up and the atomisation process (creating the vapour) starts. However, when you stop, the glowing tip fades and the atomisation stops.

What are the benefits of smoking Electronic Cigarettes?

The top benefit of an electronic cigarette is that no burning smell is present and there is no smoke, meaning you do not expose others to a carcinogenic cloud. The e-cig is almost odourless so your hair, clothing, home and other places won't smell of smoke. There is no finger staining or teeth discolouration and you can smoke these electronic versions anywhere, even in pubs.

While there is an initial payment, you more than make up for your investment as one cartridge is the equivalent to two packs of regular cigarettes. Saving on the exorbitant taxes on a pack of cigarettes is a huge benefit as well. You don't have to carry matches or a lighter and you can purchase the cartridge refills at varying nicotine strengths.

Resembling the shape of a ballpoint pen, these harmless e-cigs can be easily slipped into a front shirt pocket or purse. The electronic cigarette is a great alternative to tobacco products and will produce a similar rush without the most harmful side effects.

What is E-Liquid?

E-Liquid, also known as E-Juice, is used in an electronic cigarette or e-cig. It is the E-Liquid that can really help you customise your Electronic Cigarette purchase and subsequent smoking experience.

Ingredients of E-Liquid

In a typical cartridge, most liquid formats contain distilled water and nicotine in addition to propylene glycol or glycerine and propylene. The propylene glycol, glycerine and propylene are forms of food additives deemed safe for the e-juice. These food additives best absorb the flavour of the e-liquid, especially if you decide to add a particular flavour to it.

When you inhale through the e-cig, this action triggers the vaporiser. The vapour you inhale will taste and smell similar to the flavour of the juice inside the cartridge. You can choose from dozens of different flavours and can even customise your own blends by mixing one or more together. If you are a chocoholic, you can choose a liquid with chocolate components so each inhalation will taste like it.

E-Liquid Flavours

Are you fond of a citrus orange flavour? How about the taste of kiwi, pineapple, or melon? You can also recreate the essence of menthol cigarettes by choosing a minty e-liquid for your e-cig cartridge refills. Vanilla is a popular flavour as is coffee and you can also choose apple, almond, banana, strawberry, caramel - there are plenty of flavours to choose from in 10ml and 30ml bottles.

Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid can save you money!

You can save up to 80% on regular packs of cigarettes! E-Smokers are spending less than regular smokers and are being kinder to their health, but you can also save further by refilling your own cartridges. You can purchase pre-filled cartridges for your e-cigarettes but expect to pay more than you would with e-liquid refills. It financially makes more sense to refill the cigarettes yourself.

Customise Your Smoking

You can purchase the e-liquid in various nicotine strengths depending on your dependency and preferred taste. Some juices for your cartridge even come with zero nicotine for those users who miss the habit but not necessarily the buzz from smoking regular cigarettes. There are typically low, medium and high strengths of the nicotine juice to choose from.
